Day Trips With Dogs London
(1-8) Royal Parks – A walk through one (or all) of London’s Royal Parks should be on every Londoner’s to-do list. Choose from Hyde Park, St James’s Park, Regent’s Park, Green Park and Kensington Gardens, Greenwich, Richmond and Bushy Park, all with something very different. Each park has some areas where dogs must be kept on a lead and others where it is not allowed (see here), but there is still plenty to explore. There are technically eight different things to do, but who’s counting?

(9) Hackney Marshes – Hackney Marshes is a favorite area for many East London pups, and if you’re unfamiliar with the area but fancy exploring, our friends at Fetch & Follow have just the recommended Hackney Marshes tour. for you.
(10) Epping Forest – According to the book London Park, which every dog owner should visit, London’s largest open space is a dog’s dream. With over 2,400 acres to explore, you’ll be coming back again and again.
(11) Hampstead Heath – A favorite place in North London to escape the hustle and bustle of the capital, but still within easy reach, with impressive views of the London skyline from Parliament Hill. He also organizes many dog events in London.
(12) Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – discover what has been called ‘the UK’s most interesting city park’, walk along the River Lee Valley or admire the Olympic rings that still stand next to the Lee Valley VeloPark.

(13) Battersea Park – Home to a stunning Peace Pagoda with plenty of space for dogs, Battersea Park just above the Albert Bridge or Chelsea Bridge is one of our favorite parks in London.
London’s attractions aren’t generally dog-friendly, and we understand why, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use them as a backdrop for “that” photo for the ‘gram. Here are some of our favorite London puppy-posing landmarks…
(14) Buckingham Palace – while Her Majesty is certainly a dog lover, we have to make do with plenty of outside photo opportunities. Our particular favorite is the one from the Victoria Memorial wall opposite the main gate. Watch out pups, you might suddenly find yourself becoming a tourist attraction.
(15) Tower Bridge – although dogs are allowed to visit Tower Bridge (people have to pay to visit), in our opinion the photos are better from the outside and there are some great vantage points, such as the one by the river at the Sundial on St. Katharine’s Quay.

(16) Notting Hill: one of London’s most famous and colorful neighborhoods is perfect for a photo tour with your pup. Maybe avoid Saturdays when Notting Hill is super busy as it’s Portobello Road Market’s main day.
(17) Chelsea – there’s a lot of color in Chelsea’s side streets, plus it’s home to the ‘Love Door’ on Oakley Street and now Peggy Porsche on Kings Road – what more could you ask for.
(18) Chelsea in bloom – only for one week each May, but what a flower-filled week it is: you’ll take enough photos to fill your feed for months to come.
(19) Chinatown – If you’re going to walk around central London, be sure to walk through Chinatown, which is brightly colored (usually red) and always has something going on. If you fancy some Chinese flavors it will cost you more, but the nearby Duck and Rice restaurant serves delicious food AND is dog friendly too.

London’s indoor art galleries are generally off-limits to pups (there are a few exceptions), but there’s plenty of art on the streets of London to admire for free and create your own Woof and Wallsmoment…

(21) Leake Street Graffiti Tunnel: a secret underground street art tunnel under Waterloo that will amaze you. For visiting during the day and not at night, there is also an outdoor part at the end of the tunnel closest to the Lower Swamp.
(22) Brick Lane – Known not only for its weekend street market (busiest day is Sunday) but also for its street art. The best street art can be found in the side streets of Brick Lane itself, towards the Shoreditch end.

(23) Pedley Street – We came across this one day and couldn’t believe what was hiding in this low-key street off Brick Lane: walls and walls of street art await along the elevated railway line.
London’s community gardens offer a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of London life, if only for a few moments. Here are some to visit…
(24) Dalston Eastern Curve Garden – A garden oasis in the middle of Dalston with a cute pizzeria. Named after the old railway line on which it is built, it comes highly recommended by Lyra, the Belgian Malinois, as described in Lyra’s My Dog-friendly London Guide.
(25) Postman’s Park – This public garden by St. Paul’s Cathedral is no ordinary garden, it houses the “Heroic Self-Sacrifice Memorial” with 54 plaques dedicated to an ordinary person who died doing something extraordinary to save each other – you I’ll want them read all.

(26) Nomadic Community Garden – In keeping with the East London street art vibe, Nomadic Community Garden is an eclectic mix of colors and stuff – definitely more on the grunge side of tunes. One that you can combine with a visit to some of the street art recommendations above as it is located near Pedley Street (you may have seen it on the overground train when you came to Shoreditch).
(27) Osterley House – An oasis in West London, this stunning National Trust property offers free access to the informal gardens, as mentioned in our review last month.
(28) Morden Hall Park – Another National Trust property, Morden Hall Park in South West London won’t cost you a penny to stroll through the gardens, read all about it here.
(29) Marble Hill House – Also in South West London, Marble Hill House is in 66 acres of riverside parkland in Twickenham, perfect for a weekend getaway (as mentioned in Clover the Chow’s My Dog-Friendly London guide)
Dogs In Paris
(30) Kenwood House – We haven’t been to Kenwood House in Hampstead, North London, but we know from good advice that the gardens are beautiful, so it’s worth a visit, which we hope to do soon.
(31-36) London loves street (food) markets and so do we. Fortunately, dogs are often welcome too. Choose from Spitalfields, Maltby Street, Flea at Vinegar Yard, Greenwich, Camden Stables and Brockley to name but a few. Choose from our guide to street food and dog-friendly markets. It might be free, but you probably won’t resist eating delicious street food that will cost you more.
(37) Ruislip Lido Dog Beach – West London is the only dedicated ‘dog beach’ in London. It’s part of Ruislip Lido so think lake rather than beach but still great fun for the pups, read all about our visit to Ruislip Lido Dog Beach here.
(38) Go Dog Agility – There are several public dog agility courses and parks in London, but the one at Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park in Kennington is the most important. It’s also home to the impressive Imperial War Museum and the Tibetan Peace Garden, so there’s plenty to do (for free) in this park. More since we visited here.
Top 8 Dog Friendly Things To Do In London
(39) Walk along Regent’s Canal – One of the funnest things we’ve done for dogs since starting the blog was to take a self-propelled electric dog-friendly Go Boat along Regent’s Canal, but of course it’s not free. What is free, however, is a walk along the same stretch of Regent’s Canal, and you can follow this handy Little Venice to Camden route map from The Canal & River Trust.
