Burlington, Vermont is one of New England’s most dog-friendly destinations. Offering incredible outdoor adventures and a hip, laid-back downtown, Burlington is a playground for dogs and their companions. You will find many fun things to do with your puppy. Bike along the shores of Lake Champlain on the Burlington Greenway, then stop for a local brew at one of the city’s many dog-friendly breweries. Burlington beer joints that allow pups on patios include Foam Brewers and Zero Gravity Craft Brewery, while places like Switchback Brewing Co allow dogs inside, too. Church Street Marketplace, one of New England’s most famous pedestrian-friendly (and kid-friendly) malls, offers many dog-friendly dining and shopping options. If youare looking for pet-friendly accommodations, Made in Vermont, a charming bed and breakfast within walking distance of downtown, offers a comfortable home away from home for you and your dog.

When the dog days of summer arrive, there’s no better place to be with your dog than Cape Cod! With miles of pristine coastline, an irresistibly laid-back charm, and endless outdoor activities, Cape Cod is the perfect summer destination for both people and dogs. You will especially enjoy a visit to the Cape Cod National Seashore. Dogs are allowed on the farm even in the high season on this sun-soared stretch of sandy beaches and walking paths. Then quench your thirst at Provincetown Brewing Company. They are so dog-friendly (and socially conscious) that the beer garden has a dog kennel with a sign that says “I bite racists.” The Cape also offers pet-friendly accommodation. Pamper your four-legged friend at the upscale resort Chatham Barr’s Inn or try camping with your dog at Nickerson State Park.

Cape Cod National Seashore is one of the many reasons to visit Cape Cod with your dog.

For a relaxing seaside vacation with your dog, check out Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Just five miles south of Portland, it’s a great place to get away from it all without going too far. On the south side of Fort Williams State Park, home of the famous Portland Head Light, there is a large off-leash grassy area where dogs can run and play. Of course, you can’t visit Maine without trying the local lobster rolls, and Bite in Maine has an outdoor patio with pet-friendly picnic tables in the park. Higgins Beach is a popular place for pups to frolic in the sand and splash in the water. After a day of fun in the sun, relax at Inn by the Sea, a luxury beachfront resort that offers pets and their owners premium pampering.

You and your dog will love exploring Nantucket together. This small island off the coast of Cape Cod has virtually no traffic lights and lacks much New England charm. From the moment you step on the ferry, where you’ll see other pet owners on the trip, it’s clear that Nantucket is a place that welcomes canine visitors. Choose from a wide range of dog-friendly activities, from hiking the Sconset Bluff Walk to exploring historic lighthouses. There are plenty of dog-friendly patios around town, including breakfast hotspot Black-Eyed Susan and eclectic American bistro Queequeg. Stay for a while at the peaceful Brass Lantern Inn bed and breakfast, which welcomes four-legged friends in selected rooms for a small fee.

This extremely dog-friendly town in northeastern Vermont is a must-see. Known as the Ski Capital of the East, every winter Stowe draws visitors from far and wide to its world-class resorts. But with many outdoor activities available at any time of the year, Stowe is the perfect place to vacation with your dog.

For the big adventurer, Smugglers Notch State Park offers miles of hiking trails through a breathtaking section of the Green Mountains.
