Best Dog Friendly Resorts Washington State – There’s something about January that makes me want to sit down with my calendar and plan a bunch of trips for next year. It’s so cold and dark outside that curling up with a laptop and planning adventures is incredibly satisfying.
Although we took a break from major international travel during the pandemic, we loved connecting with the Seattle area and all of its great (and dog-friendly!) weekend getaways. After ten years in New York and Chicago, it was so fun to come back and rediscover my old favorite places and see all the innovative new attractions, boutique hotels, and unique Airbnbs that have popped up here. Best of all, I loved how many of them choose dog-friendly options for their vacation. I feel much happier when we can take Dave and Lizzie with us on our vacation.

Walla Walla is one of the best wine regions in the country with over 120 wineries, so I honestly can’t think of a better place to spend a few days. I’ve had this modern city center hotel bookmarked for a while now, as it seems like the perfect basecamp for a weekend in the snow or a wine weekend. Or both! Cozy Cabins In Washington State
We’ve blogged before about how much we love Getaway Tiny Houses and are considering a new location in Skagit Valley. It’s the perfect way to escape into nature while staying warm and dry. Honestly, Coho Oceanfront stole my heart with these beach openings. Although this Oregon Coast hostel is just a short drive from Seattle, its beautifully modern interior and spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean make the trip worth it. Dogs weighing less than 25 kg are allowed in some rooms; more information here.
My New Year’s resolution is to book a stay at the Dreamy Lodge in St. Edward as soon as possible, which should be easy since it’s only a half-hour drive from the city. This historic seminary has been renovated into a luxurious and elegant retreat located on 326 acres of trails directly on the shores of Lake Washington. Plus, you can relax after a day exploring their spa or Pacific Northwest cuisine at Cedar + Elm. Dog information here.
We spent a perfect weekend at Lodges on Vashon in January 2020, and wrote about it here, and the memories got me through the first few months of closure. These modern 570-square-foot apartments feature amenities like private patios, fireplaces, and soaking tubs. Plus, they provide the perfect base camp for exploring Vashon Island’s beautiful beaches and hiking. I’ve dreamed of staying in one of these famous A-frames for far too long and I’m determined to make it a reality this year. Tye River Cabin Co. offers three beautiful A-frame cabins located in the heart of Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and all three are pet-friendly for a fee. A word of warning though: getting a booking can be tricky as each of their amazing Insta posts gets thousands of likes. Pet information appears below each cabin information.
We spent a wonderful Easter weekend at Semiahmoo in 2019 and I’m looking for the opportunity to return to its beautiful views and secluded beach that Lizzie loved to explore. Located just steps from the Canadian border, this peaceful resort offers an ideal basecamp for great hiking and incredible views of Washington’s North Coast. They are extremely dog friendly, and pups are welcomed with their own bowls, bed, and (at least during our visit) souvenirs. Dog information here.
Step back in time by staying in one of these vintage RVs in Dayton, Oregon. Cream? They are located in the Willamette wine region. Trailers are equipped with poured coffee, plush bedding, and fine bathrobes. Puppies are allowed in the Shasta trailer and they explain more here.
Anacortes is one of my favorite day trips from the city. Drive an hour and a half north of Seattle to reach this charming downtown beach town filled with quaint boutiques, delicious cafes, and water views. Okay, technically this isn’t available yet, but we’ve signed up to be notified to get a reservation as soon as these amazing camping trailers are released in Olympic National Park. They offer more convenience than regular camping and provide a protected and sustainable way to get out into nature. I’m obsessed with the beautiful new Water’s Edge suites with private balconies overlooking the bay at this historic Orcas Island inn. I already see myself there curled up with a book. If you follow us on Instagram, you know we take quick trips to Seabrook whenever possible. This picture-perfect beach town on Washington’s beautiful Pacific coast is honestly everything I was looking for in a vacation: a nice downtown with cute shops and restaurants, plenty of rental options, and a pristine sandy beach. Puppies are welcome at most rental locations.

If you haven’t heard of Tentrr yet, you’re missing out. We’ve stayed with them twice (in Vermont and on the Maine trip we wrote about here) and each trip has been amazing. Basically, they set up luxury tents on extraordinary private land, like this beautiful fruit farm near Mead, Washington. Of course, Idaho is a bit far from Seattle, but we’d travel almost any distance to stay at this dynamic viewpoint. Plus, the little touches like the hotel sauna and the antique coffee grinder really melt my heart. Pets are allowed, but the stair entry may make you judge whether this would be a fun vacation for you.
