Below, we’ve picked out some of our favourites, whether your dog wants to dig, run, splash or play, all within a 30-minute drive of our beach resort of Guel en More.
Best Pet Friendly Beaches On East Coast
Our nearest beach, Portreath, welcomes dogs anytime from 10am to 6pm from 1st September to 30th June and 1st July to 31st August. You will find car parks, cafes and other small places isolated by the tide.
Dog And Pet Friendly Hotels In Ireland
The island’s lighthouse, ample parking, a great cafe for hot chocolate and cake, you’ll usually spot a seal or two – what more could a dog want? Your dog is free to roam all year round.
There are 3 miles of beautiful golden sand, sand dunes and many rock pools for free walking. Hale Towns is great for dog walking, and at low tide, all of Hale’s beaches offer stunning sand, so despite being huge, they’re rarely busy. In July and August there are seasonal restrictions, dogs are not allowed on the beach from 10am to 6pm, but you are free to roam with them all day!
Explore the extensive caves and walk to Portoven at low tide, and head to the beach to explore the many filming locations from BBC’s Poldark at high tide. Once finished, return to the Beach Cafe to enjoy a famous ‘hedgehog’ ice cream or a warm stuffed baguette. Parking is available through the National Trust and there are seasonal restrictions in July and August, dogs are not allowed on the beach between 10am and 6pm, but you are free to walk them throughout the day.

The English Riviera has many beaches that allow dogs all year round. In the traditional fishing town of Brixham, you’ll find a dog-friendly secluded cove. Dog Friendly Beaches In Delaware
Fishcombe Cove and Churston Cove: Stroll through Battery Gardens, a dog-friendly park that takes you to secluded Fishcombe Cove and through Churston Woods to Churston Cove. Both bays are flanked by towering peaks of green trees and offer beautiful views of the sparkling turquoise waters. This is a sparkling beach with shallow water, perfect for letting your pet (or you!) cool off in the water. Keep an eye out for the local seals here – if you see one please respect the wildlife and make sure you and your dog keep your distance.
Albery Cove: Follow the coastline through woodland from Churston Coverround to Albery Cove – or walk from Broadsands Beach to wide, green Albery Cove. Albury Cove is a beautiful pebble beach, at one end of which are the ruins of Lord Churston’s Baths. The place is a favorite for dog lovers as it is bordered by forest on one side and lush greenery on the other, allowing their owners to enjoy spectacular sea views and plenty of space for dogs to roam around. The beach at Alberry Cove is quite steep and the water comes in very quickly, so be sure to keep an eye on your furry friends here.
St. Mary’s Bay: On the other side of Brixham, you’ll find St. Mary’s Bay – a long sandy beach surrounded by attractive rocks and cliffs. A year-round dog lover’s favourite, this beach can be accessed via the south-west coast from Berry Head or Shakham Point. However, the place is not impressive as it is at the bottom of a flight of stairs and is accessible by a narrow footpath.
Fairy Cove: At the southern tip of Paignton Sands, above the harbor walls, is a hidden, largely unknown beach called Fairy Cove. The red sandstone rocks around the beach give the sand an unusual red color. At low tide there are some rock pools that are great for spotting local wildlife. This beach is popular among divers because of its clear water visibility, diverse marine life, interesting caves and three shipwrecks.

Oyster Cove and Saltern Cove: Located between Goodrington Sands and Broadsands are Oyster Cove and Saltern Cove. These two secluded coves, accessible via the southwest coast, are a little-known secret. Both bays are dog friendly all year round and a great place to escape the summer crowds. Saltern Cove is a key site in the UNESCO Global Geopark, a local marine nature reserve and the only underwater Site of Special Scientific Interest in the UK.
Goodrington Sands: The northern part of Goodrington Sands is dog friendly all year round. This long sandy beach is a dog lover’s favorite because its soft sand and shallow water make it a perfect place for your dog to play. Adjacent to the promenade, wide open green fields and a man-made lake, Goodrington Sands is a great place to take the family. Please note that there is a nature reserve adjacent to the lake which is home to many birds including swans. Dogs are not allowed in this nature reserve to protect the local wildlife.
Anstey’s Cove: Off the beaten track in Torquay, you’ll find a peaceful and beautiful beach called Anstey’s Cove. Accessible via the south-west coast, and down a cliff, Anstey’s Cove is dog-friendly all year round. This delightful beach is surrounded by thick forest, providing a perfect place for you and your pets to roam.
Babbacombe Beach: Accessed by climbing a steep hill through woodland, you’ll find Babbacombe Beach near the Cary Arms boutique hotel. This sandy, sandy beach is surrounded by densely forested rocks. Parking next to the beach makes it a great spot for dog walkers – beware, the one lane road to the car park is very steep and has many switchbacks so may not be for the faint hearted!
