Dog walkers will be pleased to know that their dogs are allowed all year round at Woolmer Beach, unlike Deal Beach which has seasonal restrictions.

The beach is clean and well maintained with plenty of bins. We went in the late afternoon. At Samphire Hoe in Dover, dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead at all times and their poo collected. The nature reserve has beautiful views of the English Channel.

Best Dog Friendly Holidays By The Sea
Sandy beach lovers might not be too impressed with the rocky coastline in this part of Kent, but what Whitstable Beach lacks in golden sand, it more than makes up for in atmosphere, scenery and entertainment. Some people compare the width of Whitstable to Brighton Beach, but it is much smaller and has a more traditional Whitstable Beach feel to it with cottages, shacks and fishing boats on the beach.
The kilometre-long western beach is part of a slab section divided by wooden barriers and offers off-leash access for dogs in an area of Kent where restrictive dog rules are common. The Old Neptune pub, known locally as ‘Neppy’, is unusually situated on the beach itself, so in good weather you can enjoy a large beer garden, and when it’s cold there’s a fire inside to warm you up. You and your dog. Whitstable offers antique shops and independent vintage shops where you can enjoy great fish and chips, craft beers and delicious oysters while taking in the beautiful harbor views. No trip to the South East is complete without a visit to the town and its unique and excellent Kent Beach for dogs.
Sandwich Bay has a long inlet to the sea that runs between Ramsgate and Deal and is bounded to the north by the River Stour. There’s plenty to see on the beach at low tide, from spotting local kite pirates (a great sight on a windy day) to bird watching and fishing. The beach has sand flats, salt flats and sand dunes, a varied terrain that makes for great walks with your dog. There is also a great walk through the caves leading to the Western Undercliff which your dog will love.
Among the cliffs of Sandwich Bay there are many quiet, peaceful spots to watch the boats on the horizon and admire the silver sky and sparkling sea. However, with numerous golf courses and private properties surrounding Sandwich Bay, getting there can be more complicated than it looks on the map. The best route takes visitors along a private toll road, which costs a few quid to reach by car, but is well worth a visit for one of Kent’s quieter, more dog-friendly beaches.
How Dog Friendly Is Whitstable Beach In The Uk?
Although its name might not ring a bell, Dumpton Gap is actually quite a charming little beach, only about 150 meters long, but well worth the trip. The low tide reveals hundreds of rock pools for you and your dog to explore, as well as one of the best walks in Ramsgate. However, note that the beach disappears completely at high tide, so you may find yourself isolated if you don’t check the tide schedule in advance.
Not as crowded as Broadstairs or Ramsgate, Dumpton Gap is usually a good place to escape the crowds. However, the beach is well equipped, and nearby there is a nice pedestrian street, a kiosk, beach huts, cafes and toilets. The beach is dog-friendly all year round without restrictions, so you can take your pooch along for a paddle.
With a stunning backdrop of the famous White Cliffs of Dover, this secluded beach is part of mostly cobblestone and rock that gets rockier the higher the tide goes. Although this may mean that Samphire Hoe is not quite suitable for swimming and paddling, it is a great place for rock collecting, walking, cycling, fishing off the sea wall (daily permit required) and bird watching. The beach is very dog friendly, but follow the posted policy!
