Duinrell is a theme park and water park with more than 40 attractions near Amsterdam and The Hague in the Netherlands. You can stay on site and one of the companies that provide accommodation here is Eurocamp.

If you stay on site, you get unlimited access to the theme park, which is fantastic for families. The location is also good for exploring the Netherlands.

La Baie De Kernic Campsite

We stayed in mid May 2019 and had a wonderful time. I would recommend Duinrel to families looking for a decent holiday with lots to do and staying here is a fantastic alternative to the traditional beach holiday if you want something a little different.

Today’s post is a long one, but I hope it answers all the questions we had during our trip.

There are many options for traveling to Duinrail and it is particularly easy to get to from the North East of England. We decided to take our own car and travel from Newcastle to Amsterdam via DFDS Seaways.

We did an overnight trip and the cost for 5 of us was £470 return plus car which included holiday travel. We booked in November with an early bird deal where we paid a deposit of £70 and the balance a few months before we travel. These prices are valid for 2019. Check with DFDS for the latest prices here.

You can see my Instagram stories about our check-in experience at DFDS here. Having your own car and driving in the Netherlands was quite easy and if it’s your first time driving abroad it’s a great way to get the hang of it as it’s so simple. I even managed to ride abroad for the first time, which I thought I would never do.

Duinrell is 40 minutes drive from Hook of Holland. Mainly in 3 main ways. We used Google Maps to navigate and didn’t take a wrong turn or end up in an argument (which is rare!). Duinrell is well represented when you are around.

If you don’t want to take your car, you can fly to Amsterdam or Eindhoven airport. Most people usually fly to Amsterdam. If you are using public transport, you can connect to Amsterdam Central Station from the airport or by ferry (you can add a transfer to your ferry booking) and take the train directly to The Hague and the bus 44 straight to Duinrel (it actually stops here). garden gate).

You don’t need a car to stay in Duinrel, as the charming town of Wassenaar is just down the road and connected by bus to The Hague and Leiden for day trips. There is also the option of taking a taxi from the airport.

Expect to pay around €120 for a taxi for 4 people from the airport. Many people who have stayed in Duinrell recommend booking through Sun Shipping (although I have no experience booking with them).

Eurocamp offers a range of accommodation options for all budgets in Duinrell. I was lucky enough to try two types of accommodation (Espirit and Avant) during our stay.

I really liked the design of the Esprit and felt like we had more space, but the fact that the Avant had a dishwasher and a partially closed sunroof meant for me that we could sit outside in all weathers (even when it was raining). -rain) and who wants to eat out at the weekend?

I’d recommend the Avant if you can choose between the two, but I’d be happy to stick with either option. Aspect is a top specification apartment with air conditioning, coffee machine and luxury furniture. If you want to pamper yourself, Aspect provides these luxury accessories.

Vodatent At Eurocamping Vessem, Eersel, North Brabant

We stayed at Eurocamp – you can book directly through their website. However, in most cases booking direct with Duinrell is cheaper, especially if you want to use the water park, as if you book directly it is included at no extra cost.

I absolutely love staying at Eurocamp and their mobile homes are really suitable for a relaxed and low-key lifestyle. Their kitchens are small but well equipped and we love the full size fridge.

Both mobile homes we tested had plenty of electrical outlets, including the all-important bedside outlets. Go to Poundland and stock up on adapters before your trip. The heads were hot and strong and we had no problems with cleanliness – everything was strong.

Bed linen can be rented from Eurocamp (we ask you to add it to the order) or you can bring your own. Having to make your beds on arrival is annoying (unless you’re using the Aspect model), but I guess that’s one way Eurocamp keeps its prices competitive.

The mattresses are also quite supportive – we had no complaints of back pain during the week. Only one pillow per person is allowed, but if you are traveling by car and like more pillows, please bring an extra one.

Our typical day at Eurocamp consisted of waking up, going to the on-site bakery for croissants, milk and juice, then waking up the kids and enjoying breakfast on the patio.

Then we go to a theme park/water park/city/day trip before coming back for an hour or so in the afternoon, while Steve and I read on the patio, Jack rides his scooter, and Heidi and Harry they went on. on their own to explore the theme park for a few hours of the park (I thought it was safe enough to let them).

Then we changed, went into town for dinner, Steve and I went back to our mobile home on the patio for a drink (with a blanket – it was a cool May evening), and the kids went to the park. for 2-3 hours.

They came back at sunset and watched a movie on the Kindle (we used Steve’s phone as a hot spot to stream Netflix) before we all went to bed at 11pm. It should be noted that there are no televisions in the Eurocamp accommodation (as usual for this type of holiday), but we really like it.

All Eurocamp accommodation in Duinrell have their own free barbecue which was a wonderful way to cook and relax after a busy day.

You cannot choose where your accommodation will be as it will be allocated to you on arrival. Some properties allow parking next to them, while others have parking nearby. We preferred to stay on the ‘island’ as it was close to the playground where the children loved to play in the evening.

The text is very simple. We arrived around 10:30 and only parked in the main car park. Theme park guests pay €10 per day to stay in this park, but this fee is waived if they stay on site. The Eurocamp reception is well signposted from the main registration reception – just follow the signs.

Make sure you have your booking number (no need to print), vehicle registration number and photo of all party members for your passes. There are cars, if you forget, but they are expensive – any photo will work.

We just cut some old photos. They just push them into your driveway. This ticket allows you to enter the theme park/land without paying (you also have your own entrance so there are no queues) and gives you a discount on the entrance to the water park.

You also get a parking pass to access the dashboard, map and information about where everything is. Normally you cannot check into your accommodation before 3pm, but you can visit the theme park for free after checking in and explore the facilities.

We found the Eurocamp staff to be friendly. They are truly a wealth of knowledge and their reception is full of all the information you need including weather forecasts, cycling routes, travel ideas and local market information.

The staff are very knowledgeable and if you want a tour or are unsure about anything, just come in and ask – nothing is too much trouble.

Compared to other areas we have been in in the past, Duinrel was very busy and they had a lot of staff. There is no Eurocamp kids club here and the staff is less visible than other places we have been – we are used to a member of staff checking everything or leaving a note/info on check-in day about what to do, but nothing like that. this here.

Until you visit the Eurocamp reception, you are completely left to yourself, which was very good for us.
