Five people crammed into a small car for a few days can easily cause problems. Especially for the Griswold family.
Vacation Dog Killer
Despite the chaos that ensued, Clark Griswold meant well. He wants to use his two weeks off to drive his wife (Alan) and kids (Audrey and Rusty) across the country to the Wally World theme park.

Although Allen and the kids love flying, Clark finds road trips to be the ideal way to travel. “Getting there is part of the fun,” he said. So the Griswolds packed their belongings into their ugly new station wagon (which Clark was forced to buy) and began the journey from Chicago to California.
Although the Griswolds certainly have an adventure ahead of them, visiting attractions like St. John’s Church. Lewis Arch, Colorado Rockies and Grand Canyon,
Probably not the best word to describe their experience. The family is joined on their journey by Ellen’s gruff Aunt Edna and her vicious dog Tinky; the family is out of money; and Clark’s distracted driving leaves the family stranded in the Arizona desert.
No matter the difficulties they faced, Clark’s determination to have family fun in Wally World never wavered. The Griswold family made memories that will last a lifetime – some good, some not so good.
National Lampoon’s Vacation
Despite all the chaos Clark puts his family through, his main goal is to spend time with them. “The whole idea of a family vacation is spending time together as a family,” he told them. Despite the chaos surrounding this infamous cross-country ride, Clark had good intentions.
Clark prays for a woman after she dies. He talks about Hindus and karma in his prayers. Allen also prayed for the dead woman, including some passive-aggressive comments about her husband.
In the car, while the children slept, Clark and Allen recalled their sexual experiences in college. During the pit stop, Clark and Allen often had intimate moments. In one scene, Rusty and Audrey walk up to their parents and have sex on the bedroom floor. Allen and Clark kiss passionately and the girl tells Audrey she can French kiss. When Audrey responded that everyone knew that, the girl explained that her father said she was really good at French kissing.
While Allen was in the shower, Clark pulled back the curtains to reveal his naked upper body. He asks if he can “do” her front, to which Allen retorts that Clark should “do” his front. Ellen was wearing revealing pajamas that barely covered her vital parts. When the Griswolds visit Uncle Eddie, Allen’s brother-in-law, both his son and daughter wear raw-edged shirts that reveal their waists. Audrey told her parents that Rusty slept in his underwear and that Clark was seen walking in the Arizona desert in his underwear.
Court Dogs Lend A Paw To Make Trials Less Scary For The Young
Clark continually flirts with a young woman while his wife sleeps in the car, an behavior the film treats as a joke. At one point, a woman dances provocatively for him. Later, Clark meets her in a hotel bar and tells her that Ellen is not his wife. They went to the hotel pool and the woman took off her clothes in front of him and dived in with him to dry off. (Both were wearing only their underwear, but the last few pieces of clothing were removed on camera.) While the details of their bodies aren’t fully visible underwater, both Clark and the other woman are naked, with some skin visible. Check.
Ellen, Audrey, and Rusty (and the entire motel) watched Clark dry off with the woman. Clark tried to explain his betrayal of Rusty, saying, “When you get older, you have these feelings.” When Clark apologized to his wife about the incident, she apologized for being “annoying” and immediately forgave him . Then he carried Clark into the pool and dried him off. There, he took off his shirt and was seen walking upstairs without a shirt on. Clark was also seen shirtless.
Eddie and Rusty’s son is looking at a porn magazine with women in lingerie on the cover. The boys then discussed the “use” of pornographic magazines, in which masturbation was mentioned.
When Clark crashed into the car, Audrey said she thought she had just gotten her period. After an argument with Ellen, Clark went to a bar and flirted with several women.
Family Who Bought A Private Island End Up In A Battle To Reclaim It
Clark’s distracted driving caused problems. While driving at night, Clark nearly hit a pedestrian when he fell asleep at the wheel. In another scene, Clark collapses in the desert and Rusty’s nose begins to bleed. As Clark walks through the desert to find help, he sees a human skeleton.
The Griswolds were driving through the suburbs when they heard gunshots. In another town, a waiter opened fire after Clark summoned him. Clark bought a gun and threatened the security guard. He then shot the man in the back. He forced the man to sit and lie down while pointing a gun at him. Police pointed guns at several people.
Although it’s not shown, we learn that the character tied the dog to the bumper of his car and forgot to untie it before driving off. The character mentions that he has to cleanse his body. Another character calls the culprit a “dog killer.”
When Clark tried to help Aunt Edna get into the car, Aunt Edna hit him. Ellen, frustrated by Aunt Edna’s complaints, threatened to beat her if she got out of the car. The officer told Clark that if he wasn’t in uniform, he would crush Clark’s skull. Another officer searched Allen and she struck him on the hand. Clark hit the moose statue. Aunt Edna’s dog Tinky bites Clark and Rusty on the ankles.
Why Did My Dog Kill My Cat?
The character dies in her sleep and her companions tie her body to the roof of the car. When they couldn’t find anyone to take her away, friends left her body on someone’s doorstep.
The characters make extensive use of vulgar language, including eight uses of the f-word, six uses of the s-word, two misuses of Jesus’ name, and eight misuses of God’s name (paired with four “d-“s). There are also four uses of “a-” (including once on a postcard), two uses of “a-hole,” four uses of “d-n,” seven uses of “h-“, two uses of “jeez” and One-time use of “b -h” and “shit”.
The man called the waiter a “wrong bastard.” When Audrey and Rusty argue in the backseat, Audrey calls Rusty a “retard.” We also hear some crude sexual slang.
Several characters drink and go to bars. Clark took his family to a Western-style bar and ordered beers for everyone, including the children. When they were stranded in the desert, Clark shared a beer with Rusty, who easily drank the entire beer. Clark orders Rusty not to let his mother smell the beer on his breath.

Uncle Eddie’s daughter Vicki gives Audrey some marijuana and she attempts to smoke it. A man smokes in a bar.
When Allen is wrong, Clark refuses to admit it. After feeling forced to buy a car he didn’t want, he pretended Griswold’s new car was the perfect travel vehicle.
Rusty and Audrey probably disrespect their parents. In one scene, Rusty continues to play a video game and rests his legs on the headrest of Clark’s car after Clark tells him to stop. Rusty and Audrey pretend to choke while Clark and Allen sing a road trip song.

Another recurring joke is that Clark can’t remember his daughter’s name, and Clark says he’d rather see a pile of mud than Alan’s brother-in-law Eddie. Clark and Allen argued and sometimes yelled during their arguments. In a massive outburst, Clark insulted Allen and stormed out of their hotel room.
Requiem For A Dog
The film depicts theft as a joke. For example, a group of men stole a hat from Clark’s car while a man gave them instructions. The men also painted “honky lips” on the car. In desperation, Clark stole money from the hotel and ran away.
The man told Clark to “watch out for the Indians” during the trip. Another man believed the men who attacked his property were Arabs.
Anniversary, it doesn’t age well. While modern entertainment obviously still contains all kinds of controversial content, I suspect most viewers today would agree that the way Clark treated his wife (and all women) was completely unacceptable. The film exposes a cheating man who appears to claim that his wife’s troubles led him to commit these immoral acts.
Paints a very dysfunctional picture of what these intimate relationships should look like. While Clark appears to be a decent father who gives his wife and children a good break, his immaturity, immorality, and selfishness undermine this gesture.
