For our family, we usually like our main family vacation to be seven or eight days long, depending on when we travel. If we fly most of the first day, we may need another day to explore.

One of our family’s favorite trips was a road trip along the California coast. We all fell in love with Northern California. The redwood trees in Redwood National and State Parks are absolutely stunning. And there are plenty of family-friendly tours that will get you into these giants.

Fort Bragg’s Glass Beach is a great place for great family photos! Nearby MacKerricher National Park invites kids to get outside, explore and enjoy nature. And you might even see whales in the right season!
Northern California is also home to Lassen Volcano National Park, where children can see hot springs and beautiful waterfalls.

Estes Park, Colorado is a great vacation spot for families looking for a national park trip with small town charm and big city day trips. Estes Park is the Rocky National Park, which is one of Mia’s favorite parks. . It’s full of fun hikes, great scenery and an abundance of wildlife.
Estes Park is a charming main street town with many tourist shops as well as large candy and ice cream shops. They also have a fun pika hunt to keep the kids entertained while walking up and down the boardwalk.
And when you’re ready for some big city fun, head to Denver. It’s about an hour and a half drive by car and it’s the perfect way to spend your vacation with a view of nature and the city. If you have an NFL fan, they can also book a Broncos Stadium tour.

One of the best family vacation spots in the United States is Oahu. This Hawaiian island is home to Honolulu, but offers much more for families to explore. If you want to feel good about Hawaii, Oahu is the place to find it.

Getting to the island is easy as most major airlines fly into Honolulu, so eastbound travelers may want to make a short stopover in California if they want to avoid the long drive.
Our favorite things to do on Oahu are climbing Diamond Head, hiking around the island, eating a plate of shrimp, and of course, enjoying some shaved ice.

You will also find many beaches and rocky places to spend the day. Popular spots include swimming in Hanauma Bay, watching surfers on the North Shore, and long walks in Kaualoa Park and Secret Island.
Many families will choose to stay at Honolulu’s Waikiki Beach, but some prefer Disney’s Aulani, which is 45 minutes from Honolulu. And you’ll want to find a luau, either at the Polynesian Cultural Center or the Disney Aulani luau.
